A City Story

COVER STORY FEATURED IN BACK & WHITE | VOL.2 | ISSUE.16

My name is Corinne and I am a part-time photographer based in Switzerland. Photography has always been a part of my life but two years ago I started taking it more seriously. I started taking pictures of my friends and my project became bigger and bigger.

Q. How did you originally get into Photography?

I started off with portraits of my friends and family. Then I asked people to model for me and thought more about how and why I want to capture them. I knew that I wanted to tell a story with my pictures. That’s when I got into working with model agencies, makeup artists, stylists, and retouchers.

Q. What do you love about Beauty Photography?

I am very interested in the human face and love playing with different facial expressions. I feel like the face is the most natural thing for me to capture as it says a lot about a person and shows emotions.

Q. Do you style your shoots yourself, have your own stylist or do you rely on the model to bring items they feel suit the mood board for the shoot?

For bigger shoots, I always work with a stylist. For smaller shoots, I usually do my own styling or work with the model.

Q. How do you spend your time when not editing/working on editorials? How do you wind down?

I work part-time as a print designer. This gives me a way to use my visual eye for things different from photography. When I’m not working, I spend a lot of time with my family and friends. I am very grateful to have a supportive environment that believes in me no matter what.

Q. What are some tips for beginner photographers that are looking to get started with studio photography?

A tip I would give to an aspiring photographer is that they should just try out things and shoot a lot. Most of the time, I see a picture that inspires me and I try to reconstruct the lighting. Of course, you can learn a lot by watching different tutorials and doing workshops, but the most efficient way is to try.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I think I am still at the beginning of my journey. But in five years, I want to be taking pictures of big brands and travel all around the world. I also aspire to start teaching workshops and sharing my knowledge with others one day.
