BOLD, BRIGHT & NEON
“The reports are in and it’s official: the future of fashion is bright.” This Season is not for people that fear colour, with bright colours flooding the spring runway. Spring and Summer 2022 is a wave of bright cheerful neon colours for daytime or for a night on the town.
For some people bright colours may be intimidating to bring into your spring wardrobe, but starting small is key, try incorporating neon accessories like a bag or a pair of heels, and you’ve got yourself a statement piece everyone will notice. -Dandelion Chandelier

This seasons biggest trend yet or should I say tiny. Meet the micro mini skirt. It’s not the first time this trend has made an appearance in the fashion world. Throughout the 2000s the mini skirt has been worn by many famous celebrities including Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Britney Spears. The mini skirt has once more been seen by some of the top designers including Miu Miu, Fendi, Prada, Versace, Dior, and Moschino. This Y2K staple is it this spring.

From 1920’s to 2022 the leather jacket has never failed to be the ultimate closet staple item. The Perfect transitional piece to take us into spring. This season Prada proved the versatility of a leather jacket by simply styling it with miniskirts, cardigans, and low heels.

SHEER AND LINGERIE
Who says lingerie needs to be kept in the bedroom. With undergarments being worn as risqué outfits, there is no holding back this season. Don’t feel like baring it all? Try layering a bra under a blazer or a cute monochrome suit.
Dundas x Revolve Marion Blazer - $516.08
Nothing says pop culture throwback like the early 2000’s. This Y2K trend is everywhere this year with lot’s of denim, butterfly patterns, mini skirts, head scarfs, low rise pants, crop tops, and skimpy t-shirts. So get ready to chanel your inner Britney Spears cause there’s no running away from the Y2K trend this season.

When we think spring fashion we think of color, and floral prints. This classic print is not new to the fashion world but the direction it took this season definitely is. Bold stripes have elevated spring fashion and dominated the runway once again. Lot’s of different designers were seen showing off stripes in all different types of ways including colors, and textures.
Fendi printed silk shirt - $1,750
Aquazzura bow tie PVC pumps - $735
ASOS wrap midi skirt - $18
Glitz and Glamour only begin to describe some of this seasons looks. Sequins, crystals, sparkly mesh, chainmail, fringe, and liquid metal arrayed the runway. This season “Being over-dressed is incontrovertibly a thing of the past." - Vogue UK
Cult Gaia Banu Mini Fringe Clutch - $679.77
It wasn’t that long ago that monochrome looks were flooding the runway. Back in 2016 Gucci and Loewe put monochrome on the market. With monochrome looks making a comeback again from 2016, this season we are seeing monochrome looks in lot’s of different cuts, silhouettes, and fabrics.
Trains are the new definition of high-low, think 2000’s high low but more dramatic. From long trained tops, skirts, dresses, and even capes. This season's new trend is the perfect way to make an exit.
With fashion trends coming and going it can be expensive to keep up with all the new and latest trends from season too season. The need for trendy clothes at cheaper prices has become so popular that companies have been mass producing and manufacturing clothes in order to satisfy customers. Fast fashion has become so prevalent in the modern fashion world, offering customers cheap prices for trendy pieces.
One way to save money, stay on trend, and not support the fast fashion trend is to buy local, and buy vintage. In the fashion world everything old is new again, and with so many trends coming back in style from previous years, the perfect way to find sustainable on trend clothes is to shop second hand.
Vintage shopping is one of my favourite ways to stay on trend and even better is budget friendly. Some of my favourite second hand stores are Front and Company, Mine & Yours, Wildlife Thrift Store, My Sisters Closet, and MiMi Shop. Most second hand stores support local charities, so why not give back and give vintage clothes a second life.
