Yana is an accomplished makeup artist but I wanted to make some raw and natural feeling photos of her, as a kind of homage to Peter Lindbergh, whose work I very much admire. She resisted the idea at first but eventually took the brave leap to let me photograph her unadorned. While I understand the value of makeup, there's something very beautiful about women in their natural state.
